Cancelling ends a dispatch that should not run, or run on. Only the business that created the dispatch can cancel it; a subcontractor invited to it cannot. If the problem is one address rather than the whole night, remove that stop instead, see Complete, mark unable, remove or restore a stop.
Steps
- Open the dispatch from Dispatch list and go to the Details tab.
- Under Actions, press Cancel dispatch, next to Complete and Change work type.
- Confirm in Are you sure?. The text is plain about it: the dispatch will be cancelled without a restore possibility. Press Cancel dispatch again, or Close to keep it.
The toast reads Dispatch was cancelled, the slider closes, and the row in the list now reads Cancelled with no progress bar.
What changes
- Every stop nobody had finished (not started, or in progress) becomes cancelled. The Overview column counts them as Cancelled.
- Stops already Completed, Unable or Removed keep that outcome. Cancelling never erases done work.
- Route runs still open are cancelled; a run the driver already finished keeps its completion.
- The changelog gets the line "Dispatch cancelled" with who and when, and the header of the dispatch shows Cancelled with the time.
- Every action on the dispatch is disabled from then on: Actions are disabled because the dispatch is cancelled.
When it is refused
- The dispatch is already cancelled.
- The dispatch has no pending locations to cancel. Nothing was open: every stop was already finished and every route run settled. Complete it instead, see Complete a dispatch and create the invoices.
Who is told
Nobody. No bell notification, push, e-mail or text message goes to drivers, subcontractors or customers, see Who is told what. Tell them yourself. A subcontractor that had not answered its invitation can no longer answer it; the invitation goes with the dispatch.
Invoices
Cancelling creates no invoices, and confirming invoicing is refused on a cancelled dispatch. Lines already drafted for stops that were completed earlier are not touched by the cancellation.
The cancelled dispatch stays in your list; filter Status on Cancelled to find it. Who else keeps seeing it is in Who sees a dispatch.
